Join SKY at a Transformational Moment
SKY is a Bowen Island–based registered charity, founded in 1994, with a long history of supporting older adults through connection, activity, and community. Originally established as a volunteer-led seniors’ organization, SKY has evolved alongside the community it serves. Today, it is transitioning to a more inclusive, age-friendly model—broadening its reach, strengthening governance, and building the systems needed to support sustainable growth and impact for current and future generations of older adults.
As we enter the next chapter, we are building strong foundations: implementing a modern digital workspace, strengthening governance, and rolling out an 20 month administrative plan designed to support sustainable growth in programming for an expanding membership base. We are focusing on systems, clarity, and accountability as we move toward our new fiscal year starting May 1, 2026 with purpose.
At the same time, we are expanding programming and elevating standards — engaging certified instructors, aligning with nonprofit best practices, and deepening partnerships in healthy aging.
We welcome people who want to shape the future of healthy aging on Bowen Island. Experience in age-friendly or gerontology work is valued, and we also welcome a wide range of other strengths and perspectives.
We are seeking board members who bring strength in:
Board governance and nonprofit leadership
Grant writing, writing and communications
Organizational and systems thinking
Program planning and community partnerships
Fundraising
If you are strategic, collaborative, and ready to contribute to meaningful impact, this is the moment to join us.
Let’s build what’s next in promoting healthy aging — together.
